FAQS

Tell me about Twelve Oaks® laminate floors.

Twelve Oaks® laminate flooring consists of four parts: an AC4 top layer, a high definition décor layer, a high density fiberboard core layer, and a backing layer. Consumers get the benefits of both worlds – the looks of the latest high end trends like reclaimed wood, natural stones, and driftwood but without the price associated with hardwood/marble floors. All of Twelve Oaks® Laminate products have the authenticated Drop & Lock joint system, licensed by Unilic® and Valinge™. This patented technology helps save up to 50% of installation time. An AC4 rating means the floor can withstand heavy residential and moderate commercial traffic. The high density fiberboard core is engineered to provide superior impact resistance and increased durability. To further protect your investment, we have included Aqua-Guard seal on all 4 sides for added protection against moisture and squeaking.

Laminate flooring’s formaldehyde emission scandals is always in the news. Are Twelve Oaks® laminate floors safe for my children and pets?

Twelve Oaks® commit to bringing consumers safe, durable, and well-priced products always. Every box of product undergoes close quality inspection to ensure that it meets and surpasses industry manufacturing standards. We guarantee that all of Twelve Oaks® products, including laminate, are safe for everyone. All of our laminate flooring have the FloorScore, CARB-II and E1 certifications pertaining to formaldehyde emissions.

Here are our environmental certifications. Please call us at 1-855-212-OAKS (6257) if you have any questions.

How should I clean my laminate floor?

Twelve Oaks® takes every effort to make our floor a “minimal maintenance” floor. Routine vacuuming and sweeping is usually sufficient to keep your laminate floor clean. Never wash your laminate floor with water, and wipe up spills immediately, using a dry cloth or paper towel to thoroughly dry and clean the affected area.

Warm water mixed with white vinegar is a popular cleaning recipe that many people swear by. Though we can appreciate your going-green and cost-saving efforts, we do caution you against using home-made solutions, because it is difficult to control the concentration of these concoctions. Any vinegar, ammonia-based products, floor wax, oil or soap-based detergents can damage the floor finish and leave a dull and greasy residue behind.

Always follow our Care and Maintenance Guide to keep your laminate floor looking its best.

Does Twelve Oaks® laminate flooring qualify for Green Building Projects?

Yes! All of Twelve Oaks® laminate flooring are FloorScore, CARB-II and E1 certified, deemed to have met the indoor air quality emissions criteria of LEED, CHPS, and Green Guide for Health Care, and are recognized by a long list of green building programs.

Where can I install my Twelve Oaks® laminate floor?

Compare to solid hardwood flooring, laminate flooring has a much wider application. Twelve Oaks® laminate flooring can be installed below, on or above grade and on almost any flat clean surfaces. Installation over radiant heating systems is also permitted. Before installation, always be sure to read and carefully follow our Installation Instructions.

Can I install laminate floors myself or do I need to hire a professional?

Twelve Oaks® laminate floors features Drop and Lock technology – industry’s leading joint locking system designed to make installation easy. Though we always recommend professional installation, many handy home owners were able to install Twelve Oaks® laminate flooring with ease. Whether Do-It-Yourself or hire a professional, we require that the Installation Instructions be carefully read before installation.
